Dr. Elizabeth Christopherson

Elizabeth Christopherson, D.D.S., M.S. was raised in Grand Rapids, and was happy to return in 2007 to join her father in practice. A graduate of East Grand Rapids, she attended Miami University, where she decided on a major in Microbiology. Elizabeth earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at The University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and, upon graduation, stayed in Ann Arbor an additional three years to complete an orthodontic residency and earn a Master’s of Science. Her master’s degree research took first prize at The University of Michigan Research Day. She was invited to present at the International Association of Dental Research Conference, and is also a published author in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as The Journal of Public Health Dentistry. She is Board Certified through the American Board of Orthodontics.

When Dr. Caldwell retired in 2016, she became the sole owner and Doctor. She continues to practice as an independent Orthodontist. In 2019, Grand Rapids Business Journal named her as the winner in their Top Women Owned Business category.

Elizabeth is active with the Mary Free Bed Hospital Guild, The Junior League of Grand Rapids, and has served as a mentor for students at a local high school, working with them to fulfill their requirements for graduation. She also volunteers at the Mission of Mercy, a free dental clinic, donating her time and skills to serve the patients there.

As a founding committee member of S.T.O.R.M. (Stop Trafficking of Resident Minors), she worked to stop trafficking of minors through community education and support of survivor-centered efforts.

She serves on the West Michigan Dental Society Ethics and Peer Review Committee, in addition to being a representative to the Michigan Dental Association House of Delegates. She is an active member in the Michigan Dental Association, Michigan Association of Orthodontics, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontics and West Michigan Orthodontic Study Club. She was initiated into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, a non-profit international fellowship that aims to develop leadership with the dental profession.

Together with Dr. Caldwell, she has made three dental mission trips to Guatemala and two to the Dominican Republic. Donating instruments, supplies and anesthetic, they have traveled to these countries and provided dental services to hundreds of community members in several rural villages.

Elizabeth and her husband, Jason, are the proud parents of two middle schoolers, Claire and Lila. She spends her free time with her family – which includes her lovable rescue dogs, Hobey and Banner– but also loves to read, cook and travel. She has participated in the River Bank Run several times, and has completed the “Hood to Coast” Race in Oregon. A fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, this is a 24-hour, 199 mile relay race from Mt. Hood to the Pacific Ocean.

Dr. Elizabeth loves the practice of orthodontics and is looking forward to meeting you and taking care of your family and their smiles!
